The Millennium Falcons have scored more points than anyone in the league. They are also 1-2, which takes some doing.
Ian lost Week 1 to the Boom by 8.35 points after Kyler Murray was pulled five throws into the season, then lost Week 2 to the Odouls by 20.6 points. On Sunday the Falcons finally got one, and got it loudly: 200.5 points, the high score of the season so far and the eighteenth-highest in league history. They now have 481.75 points on the year, more than the unbeaten Boom and Monkeys.
Two tight ends did it. George Kittle caught six of seven targets for 82 yards and two touchdowns, 31.2 points; Juwan Johnson caught all eight of his for 53 yards and two more, 28.8 points. Four touchdowns and 60 points from the position most owners fill last. Seven of the nine starters scored 19 points or more, and the Vikings' defense chipped in six sacks and two takeaways.
Josh Allen ran for two touchdowns and also caught a pass, for one yard, because throwing it and running it apparently weren't enough. Next week he returns punts, knee permitting — he took a hit to it late, and Buffalo insists it's nothing.
The only better day in Falcons history was 202 in Week 5 of 2021, against a Dinos team that scored 144.7. Ryan scored 144.65. Ian, apparently, saves his best for 144-and-change.
Ryan's number beat six of the other eleven scores this week and lost by 55.85 points anyway. Sam Darnold, whose Week 1 contribution was 0.7 points, threw for 379 yards and four touchdowns. Justin Jefferson left early with a sprained ankle, and Travis Etienne pulled a hamstring and is expected to miss time, which will matter more in Week 4 than it did here.
As for 1-2: 84 teams sat there after three weeks before this season. Twenty-five made the playoffs, and five won the Court-Ordered Limousine. Ian's only one came in 2012.
When Sunday's late games went final, Lawrence Football Jesus led 112 to 103.3 with nobody left to play. The Bensons had one man left. Same man as last week.
Davante Adams caught seven of 13 targets for 137 yards in the Rams' loss at Denver on Sunday night. No touchdown. Didn't need one: 22.7 points, and a deficit of 8.7 points became a win by 14 points. In Week 2 it was Monday night: Alex trailed the Longshanks by 27 points, Adams went for 195 yards, two touchdowns and 42 points, and the Bensons won by fifteen. Most of the league is done sweating by dinner on Sunday. Alex hasn't started.
James got 49.8 points out of Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins and 62.15 points out of everyone else. Jesus is 0-3 for the first time since 2009. Thirty-one teams started 0-3 before this season; four made the playoffs — Team Odouls did it three separate times, apparently out of spite — and none won the Limousine.
The Mighty Boom are 3-0 and have scored less every week — 162.75 points, then 155.5, now 148.75. At that rate of decay they become beatable sometime in November.
It's Pete's sixth 3-0 start. Four of the first five made the playoffs, and 2015 and 2018 ended with the Limousine. The fifth was 2016, and the rest of the East will be clinging to 2016.
Brock Bowers caught ten for 116 yards and a touchdown, 35.6 points. Team Odouls fall to 2-1, and the loss is the smaller problem: De'Von Achane tore his ACL on his third carry and is out for the season.
Thursday night in Green Bay, two Atlanta players went for exactly 194 yards apiece. Drake London's were receiving yards, worth 30.9 points to Jacob; Bijan Robinson's were rushing yards, with two touchdowns, worth 40.3 points to Nate. Nate won Thursday. Brock Purdy won Sunday, with four touchdowns on 15 completions and 36.3 points. Nate also lost Breece Hall to a thigh injury; the Jets are calling it week-to-week.
The Monkeys are 3-0 for the fourth time. The other three all made the playoffs, and the 2014 team won the whole thing.
Lannie woke up 0-2 and hung the second-highest score of the season on Nolan, led by Harold Fannin's two touchdowns and 28.1 points. The War for Wichita now stands 24-10, Lannie.
Nolan's best player was Jaxon Smith-Njigba: ten catches for 128 yards and two touchdowns, 39.5 points. He also completed a pass for 14 yards, which makes him, at one-for-one, the most accurate passer Seattle had all day. Sam Darnold was 31 of 45.
Jahmyr Gibbs scored three touchdowns and 45.4 points, the best individual line of Week 3, and Jason lost anyway. Travis Kelce caught two passes for Dan. One was a touchdown.
Team Hauloll are 0-3 for the second time; the other was 2015. It gets worse: Baker Mayfield dislocated his throwing thumb and is out at least three weeks, so an 0-3 superflex team is now a quarterback short.
The table, for the record, is a mirror image again. Each division has one team at 3-0, two at 2-1, two at 1-2 and one at 0-3. Nobody asked for this much symmetry.
